Lectionary Class: This class is a wonderful way to dig deeper into the lessons you hear each Sunday. The format is open and free discussion on the various lessons under the talented and skilled leadership of Cheryl and Greg Potts and Sherri Sumners. If you want to know more about our Sunday lessons, this is the class for you.
Introduction to the Bible: It has been said that the bible is the book that nearly everyone owns but few know what is in it. Are you curious about what is contained in those 2000+ pages from Genesis to Revelation? Do you wonder where you can find nearly everyone’s favorite bible passage: “The Lord helps those who help themselves?” Hint: you can’t because it isn’t in the bible. Have you wondered out of whose ass the Lord did speak and what the Lord did say? Hint: it is in the Old Testament. Are there any other biblical tidbits you are curious about? I suspect there are. So, join this riveting and stimulating class led by, among others, David and Cyndi Whetstone and Bruce Adams.
Christianity Today: This will be an eclectic study which will explore the bible, church history, theology and ethics. From that starting point, the class will then determine how each topic relates to our struggles and attempts to incorporate our faith into our day to day lives. Ron Burson will lead this class.
Inquirers’ (AKA Confirmation) Class: For all those who wonder why we do what we do in the Episcopal Church, this is your class. In this class we will discuss the history of the Episcopal Church; the Book of Common Prayer, its history and structure; our worship- why we do what we do; look at the sacraments- what they mean, why are they important; the structure of the Episcopal Church; and anything else you want to talk about that touches on our faith and this church. Also, if you are interested in becoming a full member of Grace Church through confirmation, you should attend this class.
Wednesday Night Class: When your life hits rough spots or you are overwhelmed by stress, do you wonder what you really believe? Is God in control? Why aren’t your prayers answered? When there is suffering where is God? Can God give us peace when the world is caving in on us? How do you forgive? If these are questions you have ever asked, join us for Asking God Your Hard Questions beginning on September 19.
