Ash Wednesday reminds us of our own mortality.
“Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return” (BCP, p. 265)
As Christians, we know that death does not have the final word. Through God’s grace, Jesus has conquered sin and death forever. Funerals are among the occasions when we as Christians do the task of the Church the best. We comfort one another in our grief, we gather in community, and we proclaim Christ crucified and risen.
We will kick-off our Lenten series with a potluck dinner and program based on the book “Being Dead Is No Excuse”. Bring your favorite go-to funeral fare to share or try out one of the recipes in the book! We will have copies of the book for a $6 donation for those would like to read it in advance.
Purchasing and reading the book is not a requirement to attend.
